This work has been difficult to tag. Grove Music's article on Maio does not give a complete work list. It says some of his work anticipate the madrigal, so in a strict sense, this will not be a madrigal. It is possible that this could be from the 1546 Canzon villanesche, but since Grove says all 30 in that collection were trios, this is unlikely. For the moment, this is tagged as a song for single voices, since most of his works seem to be popular in nature.
