Misc. Notes The arranger here credits Arthur Sullivan with the music. However, no association between this text and Arthur Sullivan can be found, though Sullivan did set at least one of Burns' texts to music. The melody in Messerschmidt's second arrangement most closely matches the tune in a few YouTube recordings of a folk melody using Burns' text. Since there is no credit given to a composer in the recordings, and Messerschmidt's crediting of "British Music" is too vague to trace, this seems to be anonymous.
