History

The publishing house Éditions musicales de l'art belge was founded in Brussels in 1915, by Léon Frings (1891-1965). They published both classical and popular music, mainly by contemporary Belgian authors, such as Joseph Jongen and August De Boeck, and the cover illustrations were often designed by famous artists (e.g. René Magritte). L'Art belge ceased activity in 1933, and their catalog was taken over by Bosworth & Co, London.
