There are at least three famous "Marmontel"s, but of the two who were alive in the 1860s (approximating- one does not know date of composition- the first, a historian but still a possible dedicatee of course if time period otherwise allowed, died in 1799, the third was born in 1850), this seems the most likely dedicatee.)
