History

Starting in 1884, Max Hieber (1856-1914) ran a music store and publishing house specializing in Bavarian folk music, of which the prime example was the song book with guitar "Klampfn Toni" (1895)- Klampfn being the local dialect word for guitar. The business was continued from 1914-1935 by his daughter Anna Hieber and from 1935-1971 by Adolf Hieber. In the 20th century the firm was famous for publishing the songs of the Munich cabaret singer Karl Valentin (1882-1946). It is now part of the Zimmermann-Frankfurt group.
