Extra Information Arrangement History:
  • Composed for violin and piano, 1879 (= B.89)
  • Arranged for violin and orchestra by Dvořák, 1879 (= B.90)
  • In his prefatory note, O. Šourek states that Op.49 was originally given (actually in the composer's own autograph) to the early Capriccio, which was never published, but apparently formed the basis for the present work, or perhaps a "Konzertstück", which was intended as a study for a/the violin concerto.
