The piece was composed in November 1916 and is the earliest one in the manuscripts of Xiao Youmei's music. The current author's manuscript was written in pencil on two pages of 12-line sheet music and entitled: Nocturne Op.19, Nov. 1916. The other side of this score is the piano score of the author's other work, Trauermarsch (Op.24, December 1916). According to the opus number of the Nocturne, it is assumed that before the piece, the author should also have works from Op.1 to Op.18, but their scores are missing and need to be visited.
