The D-Dl manuscript contains four identical bass parts, labelled "Basso", "Basso R(ipieno)" and "Fagotto (x2). These play only during the tutti sections. The part labelled "Organo" is the only bass part which accompanies the soloist in solo passages. In keeping with common practice, this part could be reinforced by a bass instrument (cello or bassoon for example). In the manuscript, solo and tutti sections are indicated by the use of "piano" and "forte" markings, however in this edition, these have been replaced with "solo" and "tutti"
