| Extra Information | After a long hiatus, here's the second-to-last sonata, which uses two hymns, associated with the feast of Corpus Christi (Sacrament Day): Pange Lingua Gloriosi (Tantum Ergo Sacramentum) and Adoro te devote. These hymns are developed in respectively the first and second movement, after which they are combined into a complex double fugue (third movement). This sonata is probably one of the most technically challenging ones of the series. |
