History

The Orpheus Music Publishing Company of London published mainly short works for domestic use from 1895 until 1920.
The catalog had four sections: piano works, violin and piano, songs with piano, and sacred music. The composers represented were mainly British, but after 1900 there were several reprints of famous continental composers’ works. The piano works were by Allon, M. Maple, Marchant and Röckel, while the songs were mainly settings of texts by Fred Weatherly and Edward Oxenford. Violin and piano works were provided by Claude Fenigstein, René Desjardins, B. Draghi, and Thomas Vincent Davies. The sacred works were by Thomas Vincent Davies, Henry Wilcock, Henry R. Mark and Arthur Berridge (1855-1932).
