No title is given to the chapters, but chapter 1 is prefatory, chapter 2 concerns itself with certain aesthetic and artistic questions and especially though not solely the question of simplicity, chapter 3 might be titled "The Musical Meaning of the Leitmotif", chapter 4 Characterization in Parsifal, while chapter 5 is an epilogue.
