The name "partita" is given this work by Glen Wilson (and RISM/Darmstadt...), not the composer (as far as we know; the autograph has not been found). While Graupner did publish a set of partitas in 1718, this is not one of them- it is taken from an undated manuscript copy in which as Wilson notes (Naxos recording) the pieces are essentially suites but not given a particular title (nor "suite", either. Of course, "Praeludium" for the opening movement may refer to the suite as a whole as well as to the opening movement, just as "Overture" was also another term for suite...)
