Notes to the Cavi recording do not give a date more specific than 1873 (publication date) for the piano quintet. No premiere date is given.

Leipziger Zeitung 1873 (article: Musikalisches aus Leipzig aus dem Jahre 1872) mentions a performance (and mentions Julius Röntgen's name in association with it?) Also, performed 12 November 1872 in Köln (see Musikalisches Wochenblatt, Volume 3, Part 2, 13 December 1872, p.810, Berichte. Quintet mentioned as being in manuscript in Nov. 1872, so 1873 is indeed the first publication date.)
