Extra Information The Piano Sonata op. 21 pays intentional tribute to Brahms and Schumann (two of Jora's favourite composers), all while having the music be undoubtedly his own. We're immediately faced with Jora's specific melodic character, rooted in the ethos of Romanian folk music, in the first movement with a hint of a neo-romantic ambience. The second movement draws from the depths of Romanian folk through its specific feeling of "dor", an intense longing or yearning. The Sonata ends with an energic dance of folk character, again in rhythmical and harmonic language uniquely Jora.
