Extra Information Known from its first performance and from a surviving fragment for piano four hands; hence, two possible versions of the sonata — for two and for four hands. According to J. Čiurlionytė, the two-hand version is the first one (VL-ČM, p. 108).

First version For piano four hands, lost; known from the first performance and from the secondary theme of the 1st movement, written down from memory by J. Čiurlionytė (VL-ČM, p. 108). 4 movements: Allegro moderato, Andante, Menuetto, Finale First performed: Moscow, February 20, 1915; performed by M. Petražickaitė Unpublished Catalogue No.: VL 156

Reference: M. K. Čiurlionis’s letter to E. Morawski, December 5, 1901: “...the Menuet […] played from the sonata in C-sharp minor.” (Lith. menuetas […] laimėtas iš sonatos cis-moll).
