A version in sol-fa notation described as being for solo voices, chorus and piano was published (without accompaniment) in 1880 - The picnic: a cantata.

His daughter Clara Thomas entered a 14-year extension request for a version of this work in 1911 (Catalog of Copyright Entries, May 8 1911, 19983). If each extension was 14 years then this agrees with the "1869" date given by some sources for the first copyright date on that version...
