Composed in 1844 on request of King Louis-Philippe, as a tribute to Prince Ferdinand Philippe, died in an accident two years before. Possibly first performed a cappella in the Royal Chapel of Dreux, as the organ (requested by the King, ordered by Neukomm, built by Cavallé-Coll) has been delivered on 1845.
