Adam Shattinger opened a retail music store in St. Louis in 1876. After many years of management by the founding family the retail sheet music store was sold to William Shaw in 1948. Finally in 2000 two longtime employees, Cochran and Linda Bagsby, bought the business.
Music publishing seems to have been restricted to the first 30 years of business.
