actually, it seems the supposition that this is string quartet no.4 is based on the assignment of nos.1 to 3 to quartets op.13, and the absence to our knowledge of a quartet between those quartets and opus 34. A quartet opus 20 by a "Präger" is mentioned in Handbuch der musikalischen Literatur; oder, Allgemeines systematisch-geordnetes Verzeichnis der in Deutschland und in den angrenzenden Ländern gedruckten Musikalien auch musikalischen Schriften und Abbildungen, mit Anzeige der Verleger und Preise volumes 1 and 2 (a collected edition published in 1845)- what year the opus 20 was published needs to be determined, as does which Präger composed it, but this could well make opus 34 quartet no. 5 at least.- Schissel (edit: the quartet opus 20 is revealed by Worldcat to be a quartet for flute and strings published by Breitkopf und Härtel, plate 2082 (so possibly published ca.1816) - mystery solved.)

I stand corrected. It says "Quatrième quatuor" on its title page. (There is also a "Quartetto" Op.19 for strings etc. though, so this remains a bit odd...)
