The 3rd Symphony is hands down the most "modernist" of all his 15 symphonies. Even being extremely short, it's ambitious in its own way. "The Letter" communicates the images of Brazilian rainforests and evokes the early 20th century modernist wave in the country. It's also inspired in the placid beauty of a icey face (thus the "cold" feeling of the piece). The 4th movement intended to imitate metal music, as one can listen to a violin doing sick solo excerpts.
