Extra Information Portraying the power of the Creator over the vast forces of nature, the symphony follows a traditional 4-movement form using a language derived from American symphonic masters, film composers, and contemporary song. Those who have visited the west coast of America may especially resonate with the images that the music evokes.

Navigation etc.

Various original themes recur throughout the symphony. In addition, movement I contains ideas inspired by Chumash tribal melodies, and a fragment of the Renaissance sailors' song "Mille Regretz." All four movements have been performed in various versions by the Bellflower Symphony, the ECLA Chamber Orchestra, and Chicago's American Wind Band. To date movements I, II, and III have been named finalist or semi-finalist for The American Prize, professional composition (orchestra) category.
