Misc. Notes Rita recorded these as three mono files, I have put them together as a stereo file with the instruments panned very slightly to the left.

Misc. Notes Low woodblock with triangle for preliminary downbeats, high woodblock for other preliminary beats; snare drum beats eighth notes. This is for the IMSLP Orchestra proposal to substitute for the conductor beating a bar before the orchestra launching into the music. At the start of each tempo region, there are exactly two bars of preliminary beats: note that the second and third movements start on upbeats. That all three movements are in one file should not give the impression that players are expected to do the whole thing in one straight shot; they may split it up into three or four recordings and as long as each tempo region is done as one, the various players will be able to be synchronized after the fact. Also note that the Allegro vivace is here played DottedHalfNote = 70 whereas the score and parts say DottedHalfNote = 90.

Misc. Notes Most errors have been corrected, but first violins in measure 88 of the first movement ought to read: B G G G B G. The part has been corrected, but the score will have to wait until I redo the figured bass and touch up minor cosmetic defects, which probably won't be until March 2012. Also, the second horn part, in the Finale, has a mistake that will be obvious to anyone who has ever played natural horn. Also, in the first movement, when the orchestra plays the French sixth chord (V7/V with flat fifth) and the V chord just before the Allegro, both horns are mistakenly written too low; the horns are to participate in the French sixth with concert Cs, and then concert G and D for the V chord. These mistakes will be corrected in both the horn in F and horn in C parts first, and then the score.

Misc. Notes Horns in F as opposed to in C in the original. At measure 21 in the Finale, second horn should read A G D G, not A G F# G, and likewise at measure 61. The erroneous reading is no problem for the modern horn but is not what Asplmayr intended. It will be corrected in the parts before it is corrected in the score. Technically cello parts are not necessary for this piece. There was an error in the first violins' part: measure 88 of the first movement ought to read: B G G G B G. This has been corrected in the part but not yet in the score. At measure 21 in the Finale, second horn should read D C G C, not D C B C, and likewise at measure 61. The erroneous reading is no problem for the modern horn but is not what Asplmayr intended. It will be corrected in the parts before it is corrected in the score.

Extra Information Apparently for orchestra without cellos. There seems to be no indication for continuo but it would be appropriate for this piece. According to Dennis Monk, there was a working thematic catalog at the time of his edition but it was not yet good enough for publication, so we can only guess it would be something like "Monk C1" for this piece.
