This triptych was composed in the wake of the volume Cantics (not yet added for a particular reason which may be explained later on), a collection of mostly short novel Protestant hymns, as a sort of foil. It was composed in August 2021. The first piece of the set is much longer than the other two, and can be played independently or in conjunction with the second contrasting piece. The fughetta is a rare instance of the composer exercising himself with an undogmatic fugue-like structure.
