Extra Information This piece was written as part of a school project in the fourth year of secondary school, where the teams of 3-4 students had to research one “dedicated citizen on Human soil” (“Citoyens engagés sur la terre des Hommes”) and then create something that represented them or their work. Pierre-Luc and Samuel were teamed up with a friend of theirs, Jean-Christophe Bilodeau, who, while not directly writing any of the lyrics or the music, still remained actively involved in the creation process. It was Pierre-Luc’s idea to work on René Cassin, one of the coauthors of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and to write an “epic song” about him and his work.

There are two largely different versions of this piece: the original version from 2010, and the “definitive” version which underwent a major overhaul and reorchestration in 2018 as well as smaller revisions in 2020 and 2024.
