German spelling
Hallo homerdundas, Happy Christmas!
I just noticed your recent uploads, because they all seemed to be german titles but made no sense at all - some of it is the "medieval" german spelling, but then there are some essential letters you left out in the titles. Nothing as funny as "Schlittenfahrt" without the "l" ad the "h", but nevertheless very confusing. Could you proofread future uploads a second time???
I moved the two pages to correct titles:
"Was trag ich auf den händen? Ein gleßlein mit külem wein" (modern spelling would be "Was trag ich auf den Händen? Ein Gläslein mit kühlem Wein")
"Wo sol ich mich hinkehren, ich armes brüderlein" (modern spelling would be "Wo soll ich mich hinkehren, ich armes Brüderlein").

- I have always used the original titles, do we have a policy on titles? I will continue to use the originals, as I don't know enought german to translate. I have never uploaded a work called Schlittenfahrt.
- of cause, use the original titles, but use the the same spelling as in the work itself ("den händen", nicht "de hende"; "hinkehren", nicht "hinkeren"), that was the reason of my post. - Actually the SATB version of this work has the spelling "der hende" - so I guess it is inconsistent, between the two settings. I did forget the 'h' in hinkehren. I'll try to be careful.

- I read something in the last few days about changes to the methods that LC use to deal with pseudonyms, but unfortunately the information is on the LC website, and that's down for a revamp this weekend. But IIRC the gist is that it would come under Warlock, with a cross-reference from Heseltine — P.davydov 22:12, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- Whichever of PW/PH’s identities is chosen, would the link for the other name directly appear in the Category:Composers, or would it be suppressed? - The LC catalogue is back up, and confirms he's only listed under Warlock. The name Philip Heseltine appears as an alternate name on Warlock's category page on IMSLP, which comes up in the list of hits for "Heseltine" using the search box. It would be very unusual to create an empty category for "Heseltine, Philip" just so he appears in the alphabetical list of composers, but a redirect could be created from that name to point to the Warlock category — P.davydov 23:19, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Hammerschmidt Dialogi page missing
hello,
i recently downloaded the Hammerschmidt dialogi for a friend, and now he's working on it and he tells me that a page is missing in the original pdf file. i checked and it's true: for the number twenty (XX) , so that's the last of the files) page 132 is missing; now he can't study the piece.
is there anything you can do? is it possible for you to scan the missing page?
i'd very much like to hear for my friend's sake.

Hallo,
If you are searching the copyright records again, could you have a look at Max Brauer "Pan". The score is TB, since published posthumously in 1934, but Breitkopf may not have renewed copyright, since they lost the manuscript parts in WW II. Chaminade part
I'm just curious as to why you'd want to create a part that has only been cropped to fit on letter? Did you know you can choose in Acrobat (and most other PDF viewers) when printing to select 'Fit to paper'? This works very well with both up and downsizing. Daphnis 20:34, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

I always remove surrounding white space from my scores, so that it can be largest on whatever size of paper - or display it is used with. I always leave .25" (.7cm) margin when I select a paper size (letter or A4). Here is the logical equation...
- No fitting - just the cropped music:
- Computer monitor
- hard to read, edges merge to edge of screen (clefs, titles, final bar line, etc)
- Paper
- - select fit to paper
- best for all paper sizes as you suggest
- - no fit to paper
- loose all edges including clefs, last line, etc. - must call tech support to figure out 'fit to paper' option
- Fit to a paper size as I have done:
- Computer monitor
- always easy to read, with narrow white border
- Paper
- - select fit to paper
- Ok, maybe just a bit smaller than it really has to be
- - no fit to paper
- perfect for most printers
What we really need is an option in the PDF viewer that ignores the specified paper size, and leaves an easy to read border on screen, and fills maximum area on paper.--Homerdundas 17:29, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I quite follow you here. To my knowledge, Acrobat will take into consideration blank margin space and adjust as necessary when choosing "fit to page". I don't know the details of this, but in any case, I don't really see a terribly useful need to remove margins unless they are outlandish like some French vocal scores are. In the case of the latter, I run these images through a processing script that standardizes the margins all around and centers the "data" accordingly. Daphnis 19:54, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I've made a file without margins .. try viewing and printing this in Adobe with various options and you will see what I mean.

- Yes, I understand how irksome lack of all margins is. It's worse on screen than printed out, that's for sure. I just didn't understand why you went to the minor trouble to tweak the Concertino flute part for letter when 1.) it was close to those dimensions to begin with and 2.) the printout looks virtually identical when scaled to fit letter. - I have always tried to get maximum size onto the paper. I have several friends with visual problems of various kinds, and for myself - I've received printouts made by others from this site, that were really too small on the paper. These were orchestral works probably taken from original 10-1/2" pages - with wide margins - reproduced onto letter size. I found this a real nuisance. The historical editions I am uploading, like the file I used as an example, were larger than letter or A4 size to begin with - so, again, I try to do the best I can.

Hi, If Acts 3, 4 and the Nachspiel were arranged by Joseph Rosenstock (1895–1985) - which appears to be the case, they are not PD in Canada - but only the USA. I'll have to delete those particular files. You can upload them again to the USA server in a while once the interface for doing that is up, or even send the files to one of the admins like KGill or Daphnis who has access to that server (I do not, for the time being). - Hello Ralph, try this...
- 1.google search for:
- United States proxy server
- this should get you many hits - one of which is a big big index of proxy servers in the usa.
- Select one of the proxy servers. These are usually supported by advertising - so click past the pop-up windows and messages (or buy some cars, vacations...). You should get something to key in a URL
- 2.in another browser window (or tab) google search for the Maîtres Musiciens ...
- 3.copy the browser address, paste it into the URL space in the proxy server window.
- 4.Voila!
- I don't know why Google restricts these to the USA. It doesn't make sense for Google to be policing the copyright - (and getting it wrong). It may be something to do with the legal conflicts regarding their book scanning projects, which have not yet been resolved.
