Extra Information The subtitle is a reference to the chopping effect of continuous parallel 6ths. In this early piece you can find what have become some of my favorite devices: step-wise motion in the main melody line in spite of the harmony; non-traditional, even dissonant, harmony that functions somewhat as traditional harmony (with resolutions); chromaticism; a chaos section; no exact repeats of sections; odd note spellings to make them more readable or to fit the theoretical scheme; contrary motion in polyphonic lines.
