History

Founded in 1795 as the Hoftheatermusikverlag in Vienna. Thaddäus, or Thadé, Weigl was the Kapellmeister and in charge of arranging operas and ballets for the piano for the publisher, which gradually became known by such names as "in der Kunst- und Musikhandlung des k. k.
