About the Piece
I have always loved Western TV shows and movies. There is something about that stereotypical "Western" style that suits my temperament. I decided to write a Western Overture that centers mostly in that admittedly cliched style a couple of years ago. Some parts are more oderivative than others but as a whole, it's a very tuneful piece with a bit of dissonance here and there "to keep me honest".
