Misc. Notes There is probably an additional editor to be credited who has corrected at least minor errors in the Bessel edition as the G-natural (instead of G) found in bar 4 of rehearsal C of the Prelude (and of course perhaps greater errors besides. Nothing more may have been involved than to remove the errors in Bessel's typesetting of Rimsky's own autograph, though it seems from a quick search in any case no one was credited with this work anycase...)

Extra Information At Mussorgsky's death the opera's fifth act was left incomplete (or lost) and only a few sections were orchestrated. The remainder of the vocal score was largely (though not entirely) complete.

Misc. Comments

Only partially orchestrated by the composer. (Re librettist: elsewhere on Worldcat: "Libretto by the composer and Vladimir Stasov".)

1883 date above from Rimsky's biography or some other source? (Hofmeister etc. gives 1885 but could easily be late...)
