Arrangements and Transcriptions
For Viola and Piano (Hermann)
Friedrich Hermann (1828–1907)
Breitkopf & Härtel's Viola-Bibliothek
Leipzig: Breitkopf & Härtel, n.d. Plates 21785-21790
As with Hermann's arrangements in Die hohe Schule des Violaspiels, these have not been transposed down a fifth as one might expect, and are therefore much more difficult that the violin originals, requiring frequent use of the fifth position where the violin is in a more comfortable third position. Hermann also arranged the violin sonatas BWV 1023 and 1024 for viola in the Hohe Schule series. Cleaned, centered and letter-sized by JDH.
