3 Preludes, Op.38 (Lyatoshinsky, Boris)

This work is likely not in the public domain in the US (due to first publication with the required notice after 1923, plus renewal or "restoration" under the GATT/TRIPS amendments), nor in the EU and those countries where the copyright term is life+70 years. URTEXT EDITION
This "urtext" or "scholarly" (scientific) edition was published at least 25 years ago in the EU (or 20 years ago in Italy, before 1992 in the former USSR). Hence, the edition is public domain in its country of origin or a government publication. Such editions are also public domain in Canada because they fail to meet the minimum 'threshold of originality' to qualify for copyright as an 'adaptation'. They may not be public domain elsewhere. More information about this can be found here.

Misc. Comments

There are 2 titles for this work. One is '3 Preludes', and the other is 'Shevchenko Suite', though 'Shevchenko Suite' is not on the music itself, so this is tagged for preludes only.

  • If "Shevchenko Suite" originates with the composer then it may be so tagged. (We could use a good Lyatoshynsky biography...) The notion is that posthumous names, or descriptions based on the music (eg tagging something a fugue because it is "clearly a fugue") - we avoid... - afaik. - ES
