A concise résumé of the piano-teaching method of Theodor Leschetizky, intended for piano teachers and advanced students wishing to understand and apply its principles. It begins with the correct position and independent training of the fingers, and proceeds to exercises and guidance on the different types of touch, scales, arpeggios, chords, octaves, trills and pedalling. The later sections deal with fingering, phrasing and musical interpretation, illustrating Leschetizky’s approach through detailed examples drawn from the piano repertoire. These include Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto in G minor, Chopin’s piano works and Carl Tausig’s ‘Walzer-Caprice I (Nachtfalter)’. The manual combines practical technical exercises with examples of how fingering, articulation, rhythm, dynamics and pedalling may be adapted to clarify musical structure and enhance expressive effect.
