Navigation etc.
Given how many trios, individual collections of organ works, etc. Merkel wrote, not all of which we have here, is it possible this is a slightly edited reprint of an earlier work, as very often happened (especially if this was a posthumous publication) rather than a newly discovered (in 1922) work published from ms.? Peachnote and RISM online turn up no matches, but... - well, will look through the collections we have, anyway... - Schissel
Since the 1922 edition contains many compositions that exist in older editions (for instance, several Moritz Brosig pieces, taken from some of his numerous collections), I don't think it's a new discovered piece either. But I checked the collections we have already, and it isn't part of one those. It isn't a middle movement from a sonata either. Same goes for the two short pieces I uploaded earlier (Prelude and Postlude). - R.P.
- Will check some sources that have works we don't yet and see if I can find one or more of those works - the Andante doesn't seem to turn up yet, but maybe one of the others will... Thanks. - E Schissel (maybe if a book like "Gustav Adolph Merkel (1827-1885): Leben und Orgelwerk" has a thematic worklist? One could hope... do you have a copy? :) ) (Generally directed question, that.)
