History

Founded by Bartholf Senff (1815-1900) in 1850 in Leipzig. The firm's catalogue includes original editions of Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Reinecke, Rubinstein, and other eminent composers of the time. In addition, Senff started two magazines: Jahrbuch für Musik (1842-1852) and the long-running Signale für die musikalische Welt (1843-1900).
In 1907, it was sold to Simrock.
