| Extra Information | As someone aspiring to become a composer, I hope my work can spark a melody, inspire a style, or offer something meaningful to others. It would be an honor if you choose to borrow, adapt, or build upon it — that's exactly what I hope for. This one-movement cello concerto traces an emotional journey in three phases, mirroring the experience of living with depression. It begins with the cello alone, full of yearning and anguish, then falls into despair as the orchestra joins. A bright section follows — a glimpse of hope as the orchestra tries to lift the cello — but the relief is fleeting. Depression lingers beneath, creeping back in, unaffected by the light. The music swells into a flood of emotion, and the cello returns to its unresolved sorrow. Even at its brightest, the shadow never truly leaves. There was a little bit of inspiration from my favorite concerto: Elgar Cello Concerto. |
Viola Concerto No.1 – Depression & Resolve – Two movements explore deep emotional states: Movement I (Adagio) is a somber, expressive journey of pain and yearning voiced by the solo viola. Movement II (Andante) offers a fragile glimpse of brightness and acceptance, though tinged with lingering grief, reflecting the complex nature of long-term depression.
Viola Concerto No.2 – Urge & Dance – This two-movement concerto captures emotional tension and resilience, mixing intensity and lyrical playfulness inspired by personal experience.
About the composer Chakroun, Hayder – A self-taught Tunisian composer and multi-instrumentalist focused on orchestral storytelling. He hopes his music inspires others—in melody, style, or feeling—and feels honored when others adapt or build upon his work.
