This unusual setting of the popular Renaissance piece 'Fortuna Desperata' combines the original melody of the tune in the cantus, with two decorated lines in the tenor and bassus, along with the Litany of the Saints in an echo-response pattern with the two middle voices (Sancte Petre / Ora pro nobis - Saint Peter, Pray for Us). Though untexted in the manuscript, presumably the altus part would include all the apostles save Judas, with the Quintus repeating "Ora pro nobis" with each entrance.
Not to be confused with other of Isaac's settings of Fortuna Disparata -- Grove Music lists 4. Apart from this one, there are two 3-voice settings and one 4-voice setting.
