"Autrefois tes fils buvaient, riaient, dansaient, en heurtant les coupes de fer et les haches, dans la bonne humeur furieuse des festins.

March 1882 performance reviewed @ Les Annales du Theatre et de la musique (article starting p.525.) Evidence of composition date absent, and some sources claim 1880 publication date for piano reduction (though this is probably "ca.1880" where 1882 is more accurate in fact.)
