The copy was stolen from the home of the composer's granddaughter but turned up at a London music shop some 20 years later.
The following is pencilled on the preface in this vocal score: First performance 4 November 1897 at Temperance Hall, Leicester. Mr. J. Herbert Marshall's second subscription concert. Soloists: Mme. Medora Henson [soprano, Genevieve], Mr. Henry Piercy [tenor, Arthur], Mr. Andrew Black [baritone, Lancelot], Mr. A. Page [tenor, Sir Mordred], Mr. D. McAlpin [bass, Sir Bedevere]. Philharmonic Society Orchestra and Chorus. [Mr. D. Mc Alpin is the composer's brother Donal McAlpin.]
