Odd low plate number though if it is a reprint, when from, who published and who wrote the text?

Posthumous publication? If I have my doubts it's because the plate number (652) is very low for a Ditson publication of the 1880s (unless I've forgotten something, very low indeed) and suggest instead maybe a Lee & Walker republication (except that Cooper would have been a pre-teen in 1848 if this is the same George Cooper, but maybe right general idea, wrong specifics...- Schissel
(Maybe this is a Ditson republication of a Kunkel Brothers original - the hypothesis that the plate nos. belong to Kunkel, not Ditson, makes some sense, as Kunkel plate of 652 could be 1883 or 1884. Or from the look of the plate numbers quite possibly JL Peters, though this would place the date of the original publication around late 1870s.)
