History
The Norsk Musikforlag (=Norwegian Music Publishers) is, somewhat obviously, a Norwegian music publishing house, specializing in Norwegian music. The firm was founded in 1909 with Brødrene Hals (a piano builder and concert promoter) and Wilhelm Hansen's acquisition of Carl Warmuth's company. Norsk Musikforlag acquired Oluf By's Musikforlag in 1925 and Norsk Notestikk og Forlag in 1975. Norsk Musikforlag also publishes educational music publications, in addition to works of contemporary Norwegian composers. The similarly named Nordisk Musikforlag was a Danish publisher operating from 1902 to 1910, taken over by Hansen.
