Navigation etc.

  • The Manuscript on which this edition is based, is attributed to "Dothel Figlio", which according to Haynes Catalogue is a pseudonym of Oswald. This Sonata also appears in this set of six flute sonatas, which has been attributed to Nicolas (or Niccolò) Dôthel, although the manuscript says "Dôthel fils". Surely these sonatas are by Oswald as well.
  • According to Grove Music, "An accurate listing of Dôthel’s output is severely impeded by the fact that James Oswald used the pseudonym ‘Dottel Figlio’ for some of his works published in London at the time."
