The source for the claim that this was an award-winning composition in the 1921 Cobbett Competition is unknown. There was no competition in that year. Vincent James Byrne in his The Life and Works of Dorothy Howell states that the work was commissioned by W.W. Cobbett in 1924 for the sum of £10.
