Extra Information In a letter to Édouard Colonne, published in Le Ménestrel (24 May 1885), the dedicatee Hans von Bülow had included Fauré in a list with at the time far better known French composers: "Vive la musique ! Vivent les Delibes, les Fauré, les Lalo, les Massenet, les Saint-Saëns présents et à venir!". Later, Fauré offered copies of both his piano quartets with a written dedication to Pyotr Tchaikovsky (Lockspeiser, Debussy: his life and mind. 1862-1902, volume 1, p.52, footnote).
