Copyright Information There is no record of this sonata being performed during the composer's lifetime under the title "Piano Sonata No. 3." However, a record exists of the composer performing only the second movement, titled "Funeral March," at the "8th Musical Exhibition" hosted by the Music Department of Narkompros on May 4, 1920. Therefore, it is reasonable to consider only the second movement (only the original version) to be out of copyright in Canada.

Extra Information The composer's original version was never published during his lifetime. The first edition, published in 1974, is a revised (actually arranged) version by Anatoly Aleksandrov (1888-1982), who modified the entire first movement and some parts of the second movement. This version differs significantly from Feinberg's original version. Although advertisements from the State Music Publisher in the 1920s claimed his 'Sonata No. 3' was published, no physical copies have ever been found, making it reasonable to conclude that it was not actually published. Feinberg's original version has never been properly published in any engraved editions; therefore, we should consider the manuscript version uploaded to IMSLP in 2019 as the first public release of this original version.
