Misc. Notes No. 22, "Bill," has lyrics co-authored by Hammerstein and P. G. Wodehouse and was adapted from a number written by Wodehouse and Kern for an earlier musical. The music for "Bill" is in the public domain in Canada, but the lyrics are not. The music itself may not be affected by the Rule of the Shorter Term in EU countries since Wodehouse was a British national, but since Wodehouse did not write the song specifically for Show Boat, the rest of the piece is in the public domain in at least some EU countries due to the application of the rule.
This item, public domain in its country of origin, is likewise public domain in the EU due to the EU's implementation of Rule of the Shorter Term for non-EU works. In some EU countries, this rule may be overridden by bilateral treaties still in force between some EU countries and countries outside the EU (notably the USA).
Please obey the copyright laws of your country. IMSLP does not assume any sort of legal responsibility or liability for the consequences of downloading files that are not in the public domain in your country.
Authorized publication with a 1927-dated notice resulted in this edition's US copyright expiring in 2023. The same edition was also reprinted by PolyGram/Hal Leonard.
