This is an opera in one act (2 tableaux) for children. Only the piano-vocal score was published (Moscow: Jurgenson, 1906. Plates 31045–31048).
In his letters Cui mentions that the introduction was orchestrated.
A Soviet edition, with a new libretto by D. Sodykh, was issued by Muzgiz in 1953 under the title Иван-богатырь (Ivan the Bogatyr).
