From Wikipedia: Suk created the first version in 1919 in a war-related competition under the pseudonym Josef Emanuel Skrýšovská. This was withdrawn by the composer.

The final version (Op.35c) was first performed in concert Czech Philharmonic, December 3, 1931 and "won a silver medal in the artistic competition at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles".
