Signale für die Musikalische Welt, 12 February 1868 issue: Cöln. ... Dasselbe Konzert brachte eine neue Ouverture zu Waldmeisters Brautfahrt von Friedrich Gernsheim... (another magazine describes a performance from manuscript in Cöln sometime around April 1868.) Seems to have received several performances to good notices in 1868, early 1869. Publication of the overture is mentioned in a Cranz advertisement (but not until) an October 1872 journal issue.

Correction: publication of the score was reviewed in AMZ, 7 July 1869, p.211, suggesting perhaps publication in 1868 or 1869.

Goltermann also composed an overture on this same subject (by Roquette?) about this same time, his Op.37. An opera of this title by Ad. Müller jun. was published by Schreiber in 1875.
