Misc. Comments
The D minor version based on the Concerto No.2 in the 1716 Roger print is credited to Alessandro Marcello. The C minor version is based on a manuscript from Schwerin and was misattributed to Alessandro's brother, Benedetto Marcello in the Lauschmann edition. According to Haynes several c3's in the last movement suggest c minor was the original key.
Note: actually- hrm. As a reviewer of a recording of works actually by Benedetto Marcello- a small part of a very large work consisting of very varied Psalm settings (l'estro Armonico, I think?) - wrote, until recently, practically all recordings of music by "Benedetto Marcello" were of this oboe concerto now regarded as being by his brother, so the change of attribution has depleted Benedetto's discography considerably... (Also see The Italian solo concerto, 1700-1760 rhetorical strategies and style history by McVeigh and Hirschberg for further on the Marcellos and the concerto-Schissel
