The suggested composition date is ascertained from a concert given by Lubeck in Felix Meritis in 1858, which included a Feuillet d'Album. The piece was seemingly published posthumously. This copy was given as a gift by the composer's wife to her aunt; a handwritten note on the inner cover reads: "Offert à ma tante par sa nièce bien affectionnée. Louise Lubeck."
